Over the next few months, we’re running a comprehensive series of workshops that will take you through the basics of building your own hardware project. We’ll start at the very beginning, then move ahead to cover the most popular project types in home automation, robotics, and wearable tech, and show you how to adapt them for other applications.
It’s a set of guideposts for your own exploration and self-education. There is a dizzying array of microcontrollers, microprocessors, sensors, protocols, app creation engines, IoT data management tools… and more every day. Let us be your White Rabbit and lead you through this digital/analog wonderland. (Blue Rabbit?)
We’ll give you two or more tech options for most projects, compare their strong points, and include full tutorials where you can delve deeper.
However, there’s no such thing as impartiality — in recommending some platforms, obviously, we’ll be omitting others. So it goes. Popularity rankings aren’t objective, although in this field, having a big community does tend to make platforms better. And tools with bigger teams, more available person-hours, more social-media dollars, will naturally be more visible. So, while I’m coming from years of experience working with different platforms, we may well miss something.
So, share your picks! Give us feedback and we’ll include updates in the tutorials.
